Found a deer while hunting. Isn't it cute? Hunting has really helped me get through tough times. District 12 has been a nightmare to live in. Food is extremely rare and scarce. My father tragically passed away a while ago and it has been hard ever since. My mom has been emotionally unavailable since then, which has made things even worse. I have a sister named Prim and she is 11 years old. I have had to take care of her and my mother ever since the accident. I find most of the food we eat in the forest. I go over there with my friend Gale, and we hunt together occasionally. We found a lot of berries over there. They are so good! Berries remind me a lot of my dad. When I was little, he told me one time that I should be careful with nightlock berries because they were poisonous. He said, "Not those, Katniss. Never these. They are nightlock. You will be dead before they reach your stomach". Since then, I have been cautious about berries. Even though there are many dangers of hunting in the woods, it is always fun because I get to spend time with Gale. I am grateful to have you as a friend.
